Position Summary
Omni Control Technology is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Scheduler to develop and maintain production schedules that support customer delivery requirements while maximizing manufacturing efficiency. The Production Scheduler serves as a critical link between Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Shipping to ensure materials, labor, and production capacity are aligned to meet customer expectations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a contract manufacturing environment, strong ERP/MRP system knowledge, and the ability to effectively manage priorities in a fast-paced, custom-build operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules based on customer demand, material availability, labor capacity, and manufacturing priorities.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure materials are available to support production schedules.
- Monitor work order status and adjust schedules as required to address changing customer requirements or production constraints.
- Work closely with Production Supervisors to balance workloads and optimize manufacturing resources.
- Review and prioritize customer orders to meet on-time delivery objectives.
- Analyze production capacity and identify potential bottlenecks.
- Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including schedule attainment, on-time delivery, and production throughput.
- Collaborate with Engineering regarding engineering change orders (ECOs) and their impact on production schedules.
- Participate in production meetings and provide schedule updates and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate data within the ERP/MRP system.
- Support inventory management initiatives and work with Purchasing to minimize shortages and excess inventory.
- Identify opportunities to improve scheduling processes, production flow, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing operation.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of production scheduling, planning, manufacturing, or supply chain experience.
- Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- Experience in contract manufacturing, electrical control panels, industrial equipment, or custom manufacturing environments.
- APICS/ASCM certification or related supply chain certification.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
